The Chamberlain Group, Inc. announced today January 19, 2005, that it has acquired DC Solutions, Inc. of Sunrise, Florida, as a part of its ongoing growth plans in the access control industry.
The announcement was made by J. David Rolls, Chief Executive Officer of The Chamberlain Group, Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of residential garage door openers and commercial door operators, as well as residential and commercial gate openers and related access control products.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
According to Rolls, the acquisition of DC Solutions will further expand Chamberlain’s current broad line of gate operators and related gate and access control products. This new combination significantly expands Chamberlain’s line of barrier gate operators, as well as further enhances their offering of slide and swing gate operators for both residential and commercial installations. Since entering the gate operator business in 1995, Chamberlain has grown to be the largest supplier in North America.

Rolls added that there is more emphasis than ever before on creating a safe haven for individual homes, gated communities and commercial properties. “Gate operators are not only being used for gated communities and a variety of commercial and institutional applications, including manufacturing plants, resort hotels, hospitals and colleges, but they are also increasingly being installed at single-family homes. Further, these same markets are also creating tremendous growth for telephone entry and access control systems.
With this new acquisition, Chamberlain will now have an even more comprehensive line of perimeter access control systems. “This expansion of our product offering will allow our dealers to provide commercial developers, institutional facilities and gated subdivision developers with a variety of total packaged systems that can utilize shared access platforms, such as radio controls and other access devices provided by Chamberlain. Our dealers can expand their product offerings and keep pace with the growing and changing market of perimeter access control systems”, added Rolls.

This latest addition to the Chamberlain Professional Products offering will simplify installation and operation, and provide advanced features to the access control market. 

Ideally suited for 1 to 16 door applications, EM3000 is an integrated PC-based system designed to manage and monitor the activities of cardholders, and to notify the system operator of any alarm conditions. Each EM3000 unit supports up to 2 card readers and 2 doors, and is expandable by linking together multiple units, allowing for a variety of commercial and industrial applications. The system’s EMWin software supports up to 3,000 individual cardholders, 255 access levels, and four access levels per cardholder.

For ease of installation, the "Configuration Wizard" walks the installer through the entire setup process by prompting the user for information at each step. In addition, the system’s default database enables the installer to validate system operation without reading the entire manual. Once the installation is complete, customizable fields including time zones, access levels, cardholders, and door assignments can be set or altered in a matter of minutes.

The long access and shunt time capability allows one or more people to have access codes that unlock the door for a longer period of time. For example, the long access setting can be utilized to allow a physically challenged person additional time to get through the door without altering the programmed time for the majority of users.

Another feature is the built-in area counter, which enables the system to keep track of entries and exits through a door or gate. For example, the unit will track the number of cards entering a parking lot until the pre-programmed capacity is reached. When the pre-programmed capacity is reached, the "LOT FULL" sign is automatically activated. Once a pre-programmed number of cars have left the lot, the "LOT FULL" sign is deactivated.

**Chamberlain Professional Products announces the release of the model HCT gear reduced High Traffic Overhead Door and Gate Operator. This product is the first offering from its new LiftMaster Elite Series product offering.
